ABOUT WORKING WITH SPACE, DIGITAL SCULPTURE AND SUPPORT

1. What personality traits help the artist to make art, and what hinder?

Tolya: Concentration and endurance help. Fear and insecurity interfere.

2. What do you like to do besides art?

Yura: Watch a movie. It helps me get through difficult times. I advise you to watch «Sit behind the wheel of my car», «Coffee and cigarettes», «Limit of control».

3. Has there been a situation in your life that has affected you positively or negatively? Or has it changed the way you think about what you do?

It so happened that we began to answer this interview before these terrible events have started. How they will affect will be seen after a while, but we continue to be creative and believe that this horror will soon stop.

4. Who, living or ever living, would you like to talk to right now? Why with this person?

Yura: I think I’d like to talk to the architect Ricardo Bofill. He is a postmodernist, and I am inspired by his bold experiments in Spain and France. Ricardo built his La Fabrica residence in the ruins of a cement factory — I want to see it with my own eyes.

5. How does your art change the world, the cultural component, you?

Tolya: We work in structural expressionism, in which the main elements are the details of architectural objects, light, shadow, angle. Friends often say that they also began to notice beauty in structures and engineering networks. Art is around us.

6. What do you think about the future of contemporary art?

Tolya: Probably, some new ways of communication will appear, and art will be something like their conductor.

7. What do you think about the rapidly growing NFT? Are you planning to enter this niche?

Tolya: We learned about NFT in February 2021. The first drop was made in April on Foundation. It was a digital sculpture in AR that we filmed in the Hermitage. Then a collection of digital copies of studio works was opened on Rarible — tokens with a circulation of 10 pieces were obtained. Crypto is the future.

8. What is the most valuable thing for you (in the world, in life, in creativity)?

Honesty, openness, support. Especially now.
